In fact, the latest research from neuroscience explains that anxiety is natural response from our brains to alert us to threats. However, it is only useful if we are actually in danger, if we are not, then this ongoing level of alertness and stress impacts our rational perception of life drawing on our primitive fight, flight or freeze responses. Because these are programmes responses at a subconscious level, we don’t have to think about these reactions, they just happen. So, any conscious attempts to think and talk our way into a calm state may not successful.

How Many Sessions? Typically for anxiety and stress related issues, a minimum of 6 – 8 sessions are required, and we’ll discuss the number of sessions you’ll likely to need at your initial consultation. I recommend initially signing up for a 6 session programme, which gives us a clear structure and focus to begin working with and at each appointment we’ll review your progress and I’ll be led by you as to how many sessions you feel you need.
